The Zoo Story and my knitting week

On Friday I went to see a play called The Zoo Story.  It was a performance by an amateur theatre group - the Without Walls Theatre Company.

Before seeing the play I wasn't sure what to expect - from the summary on Wikipedia it sounded a bit weird but it was a great performance and I really enjoyed it.

This week I managed to finish the hat KAL for the Bankhead hat pattern - it's so quick to make and could prove quite addictive.

I've also made lots of progress on my second sock - due to a conversation with a friend about Studio Ghibli films (mostly Spirited Away) that led us both to start a weekend film binge.  Yesterday I watched The Wind Rises, Howl's Moving Castle, and The Cat Returns so today I will watch Kiki's Delivery Service, The Castle of Cagliostro, Spirited Away, and My Neighbour Totoro (which is my favourite).  Anyway, this gave me plenty of time to knit my socks

I've just got to knit the foot now - about 30 rows before I decrease for the toe.  Ravelry project page here.

And just because my weekend would be boring without playing with the hamsters (who are sleeping as usual at the moment) here is a photo of them eating raspberry pieces.

FO Friday - 15-3-13 - Autumn Leaf Garland

I think I may have actually finished this last week and forgotten to post about it.  It was one of those projects I started a long time ago and then put into hibernation because Autumn had passed.

I love the colours used and the variegated bulky wool ties in all of the colours nicely.

I also can't believe I didn't mention that for my Christmas present Rob got me tickets to see The Phantom of the Opera at the Liverpool Empire.

We went to see it 2 weeks ago and it was so good!  The Empire was the perfect place for it too - the theatre is so grand that it feels like you are in the opera-house from the musical.  Here are some (blurry, sorry) pictures I took while we were there.

    The Ladykillers

Last night I went with my Mum and Eve to see The Ladykillers at the Liverpool Playhouse Theatre.  As the Playhouse is in its 100th year it premiered the play ahead of it being shown a

It was so funny - I knew it was a comedy but I wasn't expecting anything as good.  It's the stage version of the 1955 Ealing Comedy of the same name (not the 2004 film).

The cast were mostly people I'd heard of: Peter Capaldi, Ben Miller, James Fleet, Clive Rowe, Stephen Wight, and Marcia Warren.
